This article demonstrates how to set up Purchasing Rules for products on your Kano Store.
Overview
Purchasing Rules can be created to enforce specific rules on customers buying products in your Store. There are two types of purchasing rules:
Dependency Rules creates dependencies that customers must fulfill when buying a specific product, such as buying an additional product or product set. These can be useful for pairing together courses with prerequisites or corequisites, or for selling resources made for specific courses.
The Repurchase Rules prevent customers from repeatedly purchasing products and courses before a set period has passed. This can help restrict course enrolment and prevent already-enrolled customers from purchasing it again.
Dependency Rules
- On the Kano Store Admin panel, click Catalog > Products to access the Products page.
- Scroll down and expand the Purchasing Rules section. Then, expand the Dependency Rules subsection.
- To begin creating dependency rules, click Add Product Set to open the selector, then Add Product to the Set to select your product.
- Using the drop-down menu, select the first product that you would like to add to your dependency set. If you would like to add more products to you set, click Add Product to Set again.
- Using the Dependency Type drop-down menu, you can determine whether customers must either Purchase this product or Complete the product (course).
- Once you have added all of the necessary products to your set, you can determine whether customers must purchase ANY or ALL of the products using the corresponding drop-down menu.
- If you would like to add an additional product set, click Add Product Set again.
- You can also remove product sets by click on the corresponding Delete icon.
- Once you are complete, click Save.

NOTE: When creating a dependency rule, it will only apply to the product that you have specifically created the rule for, and not to products that are included in that dependency. If you would like to create a general dependency rule that applies to a group of products, then you will have to create the rule for each individual product. |
Repurchase Rules
- On your product setting page, scroll down and expand the Repurchase Rules section.

Enable the Prevent Duplicate Purchases setting. Then, using the Allow Repurchase drop-down menu, select one of the following options:
Number of Days After Course Passed Date If you to create a break between the course completion time and the time to repurchase a course, then put that in number of days;, otherwise leave blank. Allow Repurchase After Use the calendar icon to select a specific date from which the learner can repurchase the course. Allow Repurchase: Select the determiner for when you will allow a repurchase from the dropdown. - Once you are complete, click Save.
