This article demonstrates how to add Tax Rules to the Store. This article outlines how to configure General Tax Settings for the Store. Setting up taxes on your Kano store requires two steps:
- Configuring General Tax Settings (separate article)
- Setting Up Tax Rules
Adding a Tax Rule
Before setting up your taxes, make sure that you are familiar with the client's local tax requirements.
- On the Kano Store Admin panel, navigate to Stores>Taxes>Tax Rules.
- In the upper-right corner, click Add New Tax Rule.
- Enter a descriptive Name for your tax rule.
- Select a Tax Rate that applies to your rule, or Add a New Tax Rule.
Add a New Tax Rate
- Click on the Add Tax Rate button.
- Enter a Tax Identifier (label, e.g., BC-PST or CAN-GST)
- Determine whether you would like to apply your tax rate to a specific postal code, or to a range of codes.
- To apply the tax rate to a specific postal code, enter the code into the Zip/Post Code.
- Using an asterisk allows you to match up to ten characters in a code. For example, 90* represents all postal codes from 90000 through 90999.

To apply the tax rate to all postal codes in a region (province/state or country, use an asterisk in the field:
- Select the Country first, then State/Province or use an asterisk to indicate all states/provinces.
- Enter the Rate Percent that is used for the tax rate calculation.
- If necessary, enter appropriate Tax Titles for each store view/language.
- Once you are complete, click Save. You can then continue editing your tax rule.
